For several years now, the Synestheet Foundation has been organising all kinds of artistic and cultural events and projects in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Like Amsterdam Roots, Synestheet encourages the building of intercultural bridges and participation in interactive cultural initiatives. Especially for the celebration of 750 years of Amsterdam, Synestheet invites all residents of Amsterdam to contribute a personal, cultural rug with the aim of combining all these rugs into one large rug.

Amsterdam Roots Festival and Synestheet are creating a unique place on the festival grounds with this super colourful Kleed van Amsterdam (carpet of Amsterdam). We have joined forces and put together a programme of intimate concerts, special stories and all kinds of interactive programmes. These include performances by Reza and Shahram Mirjalali, Bahghi, and Madalitso Band. Stories and recitations by Chee-Han Kartosen-Wong, Nancy Bosman, Luana Ferreira and Gershwin Bonevacia, and all kinds of workshops by the Indonesian Orchestra, Fatima Oulad Thami and Zimmza (henna art), Weaving Worlds (collective weaving), African Centre (making peanut butter & soap, crafting bags), Roua Ateliers (tie dye) face painting, building a fantasy animal...
