Participative performance in labyrinth inspired by Afro-Suriname Winti ritual (canceled)

This performance has unfortunately been cancelled. Please keep an eye on our social media for a future new date.

Keti Koti Festival and Amsterdam Roots Festival present the theater production 'Sabi Fu Tamara'. The performance plays several times during Keti Koti (July 1) and Roots Open Air (July 3) in the Oosterpark.

'Sabi Fu Tamara' is a metaphorical journey through the labyrinth of life, and is performed in a labyrinth built especially for the performance. The piece is based on the Afro-Surinamese Winti tradition. The title means "Knowing about tomorrow" in Sranantongo and expresses the idea that we must let the past speak to the present, and that we must commit to the future. To preserve the earth and make society more just, we must listen to the knowledge of our ancestors. In addition, the title also refers to the theatrical experience itself: the visitor enters the labyrinth with a question, and leaves with an answer, just as in a winti ritual.
