Nancy will read from her book "The Girl with the Seeds in Her Hair", a touching picture book about hope and perseverance. She tells the story of Yaa from Ghana, who, along with her mother, is forced to flee and work in a foreign land. In her braids, her mother has hidden seeds from the vegetables and fruits of their homeland. In the middle of the night, Yaa sneakily gets out of bed to plant the seeds.
