Making African peanut butter
Sunday 06/07
Many African women go to the market with a calabash on their head, where they carry their groceries. Sometimes, it contains a bundle of newspaper, along with homemade peanut butter.
In this workshop, Djouma and Aissata from Senegal and Mauritania will teach you all the tricks of pounding peanut butter. Once the peanuts are peeled and the skins blown off, they go into the mortar, where they are ground finely with a wooden pestle. When your peanut paste is finally ready, you’re allowed to take some home in a container. You can use it to make authentic African peanut soup or spread it on a piece of baguette. Bon appétit!
And you can also try walking with a calabash on your head!
