Henna Art
On the Synestheet carpet, you can meet two inspiring artists, each walking their own path in the world of henna. From an early age, Zimmza's heart was stolen by Moroccan henna art. Since she began practicing with it, henna art has become an artistic outlet for Zimmza. Her henna paste is made from organic henna powder, essential oil, lemon, water and sugar. She uses her talent for special occasions such as engagements, weddings, festivals, or just for personal expression. In doing so, she enjoys collaborating with her friend and fellow henna artist Fatima Oulad Thami.
Fatima Oulad Thami is in demand worldwide for lectures and workshops and is recognized as a master of her craft. In the Netherlands, she has been keeping the Moroccan henna tradition alive for more than thirty years. In Morocco it is said that henna contains baraka, spiritual blessings. The application of henna is therefore considered a creative act that transmits blessings when touched. Fatima is known for her strength and love for her art, and diligently conveys it to her audience.
