Djuwa & Arturo will perform between the artworks at OSCAM during Roots in Southeast. Arturo den Hartog (1999) is a Surinamese-Dutch countertenor who received his first singing lessons at the age of 8 in Suriname. The Comorian-Dutch pianist Djuwa Mroivili (1998) makes herself heard in all kinds of concert halls - from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the World Expo in Dubai. Den Hartog and Mroivili met at the Opera Forward Festival of the Dutch National Opera and Ballet. Together they started performing black composers who have not received the recognition their music deserves. Together they stand up for these composers and at Amsterdam Roots in Oscam they will perform music by Margaret Bonds, Florence Price and others.
