Art Root Collective

An intercultural tea ceremony filled with connection, music, and stories

Every week, the women of Art Root Collective organise a Women's Gathering at the asylum seekers' centre on Willinklaan. Inspired by the Middle Eastern custom of Sobhiya – a morning ritual in which women come together to talk, sing, eat and drink tea or coffee – they bring this moment of connection to the festival.

At the Roots Festival, they share their version of this tradition with medicinal herbal tea, homemade snacks and live music. An intimate moment of togetherness, in which taste, sound and encounter come together.
